500 Ride Annual Challenge
Exceeded!
Aging in Place Coalition members are strong advocates of the
vision to help all individuals who desire to remain in their
residence as they age and to support
ITN (Independent Transportation
Network) in its efforts to provide dignified
transportation to seniors.
Starting in June, 2007 Coalition members were asked to
participate as volunteers for ITN
with the goals of completing 500 rides over the course of
the twelve month period. At the end of May, 2008, Coalition
volunteers drove over 800 seniors exceeding the original
goal by close to 40%.
Dick Giffen , Transportation Co-Chairman for the Coalition,
made the exciting announcement at the SCAIP Quarterly
meeting..

For 2007 – 2008 the goal is
being fine-tuned since it is all about the
volunteers and the riders – the people who make it
happen! Coalition members are being asked to drive
at least twice a month and to volunteer as a driver
if they have not already signed up. By doing this,
Coalition members can help even more seniors get to
places they need and want to go – their medical
appointments, shopping or even their beauty shop
appointment!
